What is a kit?

Starkit and zipkit files are Tcl mountable virtual filesystems. They permit application developers to wrap up a working directory tree containing application files and extension packages into a single distributable file. When the application is run using a tclkit executable the end user can be certain that the application is using only the versions of the packages that the author distributed as tclkit does not look for packages outside the virtual filesystem. These can be based on either Metakit or zip archives.
